What is immigration: The process of settling in a new country. Immigration is a process in which you settle in a new country permanently, either alone or with your family.

Immigration benefits both the individual and the country where you are settling as immigrating skilled persons from other countries helps in economic, social and cultural growth.

Procedure: Every country has their set of rules or criteria through which they select immigrants.

Applicants must complete the eligibility criteria for permanent residency in the desired country.

Immigration Laws: Every country has different immigration laws. Applicants have to follow those laws to get immigration in that country. Some countries require a high score in language proficiency so that the immigrants can communicate well with their colleagues, employers, teachers (in the case of students) and other people.

IRCC regularly makes required changes in immigration policies. If you want to immigrate to Canada, then you must have the knowledge of the updated rules and immigration policies. The latest changes in Canadian immigration policy are 

Student Visa:  All international students immigrating to Canada on a study visa must be: Fully Vaccinated (except under the age of 18 years).
A valid study permit or Visa. Also, the postgraduate students whose visa expires between Jan 2022 to Dec 2022 are eligible for an open work permit for upto 18 months.

 

Changes in Medical inadmissibility Policy: Canada made key changes in the Medical Inadmissibility policy in Canada in addition to people with disability. 
 

Occupation-Based Express Entry Draws: IRCC has made amendments under Bill C-19. It will give more liberty in inviting skilled workers to the Express Entry pool.
 

Six Months Processing Time: Due to the Pandemic, the processing time for Express Entry applications was taking very long.  IRCC resumed six months of processing time for Express entry applications. This will help applicants to process their files on time.  
 

Proof of funds for Express Entry:  IRCC has increased the proof of Funds requirements for 2022. If you have already submitted your application, then you need to submit the updated proof of funds to be eligible for Express Entry.

Canada PR Fees: Canada has revised application fees for all Express Entry streams from 30 April 2022.

Online application for Temporary Visa: Canada has also updated its Ministerial Instructions for all the applicants under Temporary Residence, Study Visa and Work Visa.

Atlantic Immigration Program AIP: Atlantic Immigration Program AIP replaced AIPP Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program as the Ministerial Instructions of AIPP expire on 5 March 2022. The applications are now accepted under Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) from 6 March 2022.

New Processing Time tool: Canada updated its time tool to check the processing of the applications. The new tool updates every week to give the latest information to the Candidates.

No Pre-entry test for fully vaccinated:  Fully Vaccinated travellers through Land, Sea or Air are not required to have the Pre-entry Covid -19 test to enter Canada.

Immigration plans 2022- 2024:  Canadian Government is planning to welcome 1.5 million new permanent residents by the year 2024. In the year 2022, the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada IRCC is planning to invite 431,645 new applicants as permanent residents of Canada. In 2023, a total of 447,055 and in 2024, 451,000 permanent residents. 

Canada is also planning to welcome more than 80,000 permanent residence applications under Provincial Nominee Programs. You can also apply under PNPs to have more chances to get an ITA under these PNP programs.
