Medical Exam Waived for Canada PR and TR Visas

Canada is facing the worst labor shortage in the World. Canada is facing a labor shortage in various areas including Healthcare, IT,  early child care and Hospitality. All these fields are in need of urgent workforce.

To remove the backlog of Visa applications, the country has decided to waive the need for a medical exam for temporary and permanent residence for the 180,000 candidates who are already in Canada And meet the eligibility criteria for permanent and Temporary Residency.

 Immigration Minister Sean Fraser Has announced the waiver of the medical exam for 180,000 candidates who are already in Canada. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has stated that they are simplifying the process in the coming weeks and it will help the 180,000 candidates by saving them medical exam time and money.

Medical exams were compulsory for permanent and temporary residency in Canada for both onshore and offshore candidates. But now with a change in the priorities, the medical exam waiver for onshore candidates. 

There is a backlog of applications at IRCC. to clear this backlog, IRCC is hiring new employees in immigration department and making a complete digital online system for the fast and smooth processing of the applications. 

Sean Fraser stated that Canada always welcomes the Immigrants for new jobs, studies and creating a new life for themselves and also the reunions of the families. It provides a great strength to the community.  

He also stated that we are making our immigration system strong with updated technologies and machines. All the required resources are being provided to the immigration department for the fast processing of the applications under different immigrations programs.

It will be easier for new immigrants and they will be happy with the experience. Canadian Immigration has taken many steps since last year to solve the visa backlog problems amid the strong criticism from the opposition. 

Now telephonic and video interviews are also conducted by IRCC with sponsors and applicants under the family visa programs for the reunification of the families as stated by the immigration department.

IRCC has granted 69,000 spouse visas in 2021, amid the covid lockdown challenges. There was a greater risk of the health challenges but still the department of immigration handled the cases very effectively. 

As stated the spouse case services are normal to pre pandemic standards with required aids and modernizing the services in IRCC. 

IRCC has opted for the complete digital format of the applications from 23 September. These mainly include the permanent residency applications. But alternatives are still available for those who are unable to do the online applications. 

With all the possible measures taken, the IRCC is still facing a backlog of 2.4 m applications as of 31 July. The IRCC official website updates the data of applications monthly. Half of these applications are beyond the service standards. 

1.4 million applications are for temporary residency while others are permanent residency. Half the applications of temporary residency are beyond the service standards. Rest applications are for permanent residency and citizenship of Canada.

IRCC is planning to have a more integrated, centralized and modern work environment to speed the processing time of the applications and have a fast pace system. 

A budget of $ 2.1 billion over five years and $ 317.6 million ongoing is committed by the Federal government to level the plans of the Immigration department. Also a funding of additional  $ 85m has helped greatly in reducing the application backlog. 

The application backlog in the last few months has dropped to a few hundred, but people whose applications are still pending are fed up with the late processing time of their application. 

The funds are mainly used to hire new staff and create the digital system for the application processing by the IRCC.

Many people are upset and depressed with the late processing of their applications and are using social media to voice their anger as they are not able to reunite with their loved ones or are not able to work and live in better conditions. 

The immigration department is trying to sooth the people by providing the speedy feedback of their queries and their visa application status. 

IRCC has also launched a new application trackers for permanent residence applications so that the applicants can check the status of their application online . IRCC is planning to launch the expanded application tracker by spring 2023 which will include 7 more permanent and temporary residence applications. 

The immigration department is planning to publish the estimated time of the application processing by this autumn.
